Many returning artists

The 2016 line-up features many familiar names that return from having competed in Melodifestivalen in previous years. From last year, Dolly Style, Samir & Viktor, Molly Pettersson Hammar, and Isa return for another attempt at winning.

But Ace Wilder, Anna Book, Pernilla Andersson, Mattias Andréasson, Patrik Isaksson, Tommy Nilsson (Eurovision 1989), Uno Svenningsson, David Lindgren, Oscar Zia, After Dark, Swingfly, Martin Stenmarck (Eurovision 2005), Panetoz, Linda Bengtzing, and Molly Sandén have all previously competed in Melodifestivalen.

Krista for Sweden?

Possibly the biggest surprise artist is a newcomer to the contest, but no stranger to Eurovision. Finnish singer and 2013 representative for Finland, Krista Siegfrids, is among the 28 chosen candidates. Her song is called Faller (Falling in Swedish) and is her first song in Swedish. Krista is from the western and Swedish speaking part of Finland.

Sweden will choose its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, to be held in the nation’s capital Stockholm, on March 12.
