  • Ruth Lorenzo was born in Murcia, Spain in 1982. At a young age, Ruth and her family moved to America, where she participated in many musicals as well as singing opera. At age 16, she returned to Spain with her family. In 2002, Ruth auditioned for “Operación Triunfo,” but didn’t make it past the first round.

In 2008, Ruth decided to audition for the UK version of “X Factor.” She was instantly a success on the show and lasted an impressive eight weeks. Her appearance on the show made her popularity increase, which led to her touring of Europe soon after.

  • In early 2014, it was revealed by Spanish broadcaster TVE that five finalists were chosen to compete for a chance to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was further revealed that Ruth Lorenzo was on the shortlist.

The show titled “¡Mira quién va a Eurovisión!,” aired in early March. Ruth sang her entry “Dancing in the Rain,” and despite losing the jury vote to Brequette, won the televote. The combination of the two sets of points revealed Ruth as the winner and Spanish entrant for Eurovision 2014.

  •

    Luz, yo quiero ver luz

Poder pintar de color un nuevo amanecer

    Vivir, amar,

    Sentir y saber que

Hoy, puede que no salga el sol

    Aunque llueva

    Tú y yo sabremos bailar

    Nadie nos puede parar

    We’re dancing in the rain

    Dancing in the rain

    Life, gets you every time

    Open up ,

You never know what you will find

You never know what waits inside

    So, live

    Like you’ll never stop

    Take this chance

And give it everything you’ve got

Come on and let the rhythm drop

    We’re dancing in the rain

    Dancing in the rain

Keep on like it’s never ending

Keep on till the light of day

Keep on dancing in the rain

    The rain, the rain

    Deja caer

    Deja la lluvia caer

The rain, the rain, the rain

    Deja caer

    Deja la lluvia caer

The rain, the rain, the rain

    The Rain, the rain

    Dancing

    Dancing

    Dancing

    Dancing

    Deja caer

    Deja la lluvia caer

    Aunque llueva y nos mojemos

    No pararemos de bailar

Keep on dancing in the rain

    The rain, the rain
