Ann Sophie will represent Germany at Eurovision in a shock victory!
After a dramatic national final in Germany tonight, we have learned that Ann Sophie will fly the German flag in Vienna at Eurovision 2015.
Eight acts competed in the first round of Unser Song für Österreich tonight. Four acts progressed to round 2 after the first round of televoting. Those acts were Ann Sophie, Laing, Andreas Kümmert and Alexa Feser. After each of those acts performed once more, Ann Sophie and Andreas Kümmert were chosen as the top 2 by the public vote.
In round three, Ann Sophie performed “Black Smoke” and Andreas Kümmert performed “Heart of Stone.” A final public vote took place and Andreas Kümmert was voted the winner.
In a shocking turn of events, a visibly nervous Andreas declined to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest and relinquished his title to Ann Sophie. Amid an array of boos from the audience, Ann Sophie quickly accepted the offer as Andreas fled the stage.
UPDATE: ARD has announced that Andreas Kümmert received 78.7% of the televote in the third round of voting. Ann Sophie received 21.3% of the televote.
