Anna Sahlene (Estonia 2002) returns to Eurovision!
The Swedish singer Anna Sahlene, who represented Estonia at the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest in Tallinn and placed third, is now returning to the contest.
The singer now sings as a backing vocalist for this year’s entry from Australia.
An experienced duo
Dami Im from Australia is joined by Dea Norberg and Anna Sahlene for the song “Sound of Silence,” though the backing singers are not seen on stage in Globen. Anna has been a Eurovision backing vocalist with Dea seven times previously. As a solo artist, she has participated in the Swedish selection Melodifestivalen three times.
A lot of pressure to be at the very front
“Of course I want to be back on stage, but it also feels good to just be along with the music and the company, because it’s also a lot of pressure to be at the very front,” said Anna to svt.se. “Dami goes away from the melody quite a lot and then it’s up to us to keep the refrain going. It’s a lot of responsibility and that’s cool,” she continued.
Australia will perform as song 10 in the second semi-final.
