Austrian selection plans revealed

Austrian broadcaster, ORF, is taking a different route this year to select the home entry.

Last year, Conchita Wurst, the eventual winner of Eurovision 2014, was internally chosen to represent Austria. In a bid to find the most successful possible entry to represent the home nation, ORF have new plans for a national final.

The selection will consist of four shows. These shows will take place in February.

A team of music professionals will be looking across Austria for their candidate.

Alex Deutsh, a famous Austrian manager and musician, will be among those looking for the most promising talents in Austria. Deutsh said, “Together with ORF we have developed a format which, far away from classical talent shows, offers this platform and support.”

Anna F, a very successful Austrian pop-rock singer-songwriter will act as a coach to the acts. She says she has invited both national and international singers and songwriters to take part in the Austrian selection.

The ultimate winner, and Austria’s representative for 2015, will be decided by the Austrian public.

Eurovision 2015 will be held in Vienna, Austria, thanks to the victory of Conchita Wurst in 2014, in Copenhagen.
