Berlin to host their fourth Eurovision Weekend next month!
This July, Eurovision Weekend will take place in Berlin for the fourth time.
Ann Sophie (Germany 2015), DQ (Denmark 2007) and Kirsten Siggaard (Denmark 1984, 1985, 1988) have been announced as the performing acts for the concert on July 18.
Taking place two months after the Eurovision Song Contest, Berlin’s Eurovision weekend has become the most important off-season Eurovision event.
This year the Berlin Eurovision fan group will be hosting the fourth edition of the event, in collaboration with Danish OGAE group, melodigrandprixfans.dk. Fans are expected to travel from all over Europe to attend the event.
Ann Sophie, DQ, and Kirsten Siggaard
This year the performances will be from Ann Sophie, DQ and Kirsten Siggaard.
German singer Ann Sophie represented her country at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. Her song “Black Smoke”, was one of two entries to receive ‘nil points’ in the grand final, therefore finishing in joint last place with Austria.
Drag performer DQ performed for Denmark in the semi-final of Eurovision 2007 in Helsinki. DQ’s song, “Drama Queen”, finished in 19th place at the semi-final, failing to qualify for the grand final.
Kirsten Siggaard has competed at Eurovision for Denmark a total of three times as part of the duo Hot Eyes, in 1984, 1985 and 1988. Their highest placing at the contest was third in 1988 with the song “Ka’ du se hva’ jeg sa’?”. That year, Kirsten was one of the most memorable artists, as she appeared on stage in Dublin heavily pregnant with her second son.
