After winning the Eurovision Song Contest and doing extensive promotional tours on TV-shows around Europe, Emmelie de Forest was supposed to embark on her very own tour this October, starting in Germany. The tour would have also visited Austria and her home country Denmark.

“I am a perfectionist”

However, the tour has been cancelled. On her Facebook page, de Forest writes, “It is with my deepest regret that I have postpone my tour in Germany and Denmark. I was really looking forward to getting out and perform for all of you! I had to make this decision, as I am a perfectionist and whatever I do, it has to be done 100%. With my very hectic schedule at the moment, it is impossible for me to do that. I hope for your understanding and look forward to performing for you as soon as possible.”

New Year’s Eve in Beijing

De Forest’s manager, Anders Fredslund-Hansen, cites an upcoming new album and TV-appearances as major reasons for prioritizing the tour lower. “It’s prioritizing. There are so many other things she has to do,” he said to Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet. One of the upcoming jobs is a performance in a show on New Year’s Eve at the Olympic stadium in Beijing.

Disappointing ticket sales

But it isn’t just a busy schedule that has stopped the tour from happening. The ticket sales for the shows have not been going as well as expected. “Of course it has an influence. If the shows were all sold out, they would’ve been prioritized higher,” said Fredslund-Hansen. “It’s what she loves the most. But we have to admit that it takes more than a single hit to fill a concert hall.”

Disappointed fans can get their tickets refunded. There is no word on if or when a new tour will take place.
