Charlotte Perrelli Gets Personal
Eurovision Song Contest 1999 winner Charlotte Perrelli was announced today to participate in the first semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2017. This will be her fourth time entering the Swedish selection.
Take Me To Your Heaven
Perrelli first gained international fame when her song “Take Me To Your Heaven” won the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1999, and has since appeared at Eurovision in 2008 with her song “Hero“. She has kept very busy in Sweden, even entering the selection contest again in 2012 with “The Girl“, which had failed to qualify to the finals.
Here I Stand
Charlotte has also kept busy in the MelFest scene by hosting shows and being involved in many interval acts, including last year when she did a comedic cover of Helene Fischer‘s “Atemlos” but re-done to “Här står jag” which did well not he digital charts in Sweden.
Losing The Passion For Music
In a very open interview with ESCReporter Kevin Lee, Perrelli opened up by saying that her entry song, “Mitt liv” (My Life), was a very personal song for her that she had to write when she had lost faith and passion for the music. She also admits that this is not a winning song, but really hopes her fans will appreciate this very personal experience that she wants to share.
