Crowdsourced ideas for Eurovision 2014
DR insists it has not run out of ideas, as the Danish national broadcaster launches the #MyEurovisionIdea social media campaign which asks everybody to send in their best ideas for a 4-minute segment in next year’s Eurovision in Copenhagen, Denmark.
According to the 2014 Head of Show, Jan Lagermand Lundme, the idea ties in with the 2014 vision of everybody joining in. “We will use the social media to create a community and take advantage of the energy being created when people from all over Europe gather around the Eurovision Song Contest. Because of that, we want to create several segments in the show based on ideas from fans and viewers around Europe,” he said to dr.dk.
At the same time, Lundme insists that crowdsourcing ideas is not a symptom of an empty idea pool: “#MyEurovisionIdea is an idea in itself and we were very excited when we came up with it. The easiest for us would be to come up with all of the entertainment ourselves and it won’t be an easy process to sort out the many ideas. But we will listen to Europe.”
All you have to do is write your ideas on social media like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and tag them with the hashtag #MyEurovisionIdea, before January 31. A website at www.joinus.dk has also been created for the purpose. The best ideas will make it into next year’s show. According to dr.dk, the ideas will become a 4-minute segment, although Lundme mentioned several segments.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2014 will air live from Copenhagen, Denmark on May 6, 8, and 10.
