Cyprus selects Giannis Karagiannis for Eurovision 2015!
Tonight saw the final of the Cypriot selection process for their Eurovision 2015 representative and they decided that Giannis Karagiannis will fly the flag for the nation in Vienna with his song, ‘One Thing That I Should Have Done’!
Antri Keratoni hosted the six-act final this evening, these acts were:
- Hovig – Stone In A River
- Doody – Magic
- Panagiotis Koufogiannis – Without Your Love
- Minus One – Shine
- Giannis Karagiannis – One Thing That I Should Have Done
- Charis Savva & Nearchos Evaggelou – Dila Den Agapo
Giannis was decided by a 50:50 public televote and a jury vote. The jury was comprised of previous Cypriot representatives at Eurovision, Elena Patroklou (1991), Alex Panayi (1995 and 2000) and Despina Olympiou (2013). In addition to the former Eurovision contestants, Tasos Trifonos, Bruno Berberes and Nicola Caligiore were also on the panel. They are the Italian Head of Delegation, the former French Head of Delegation and the executive producer of The Voice of France respectively.
Giannis has a long relationship with music, performing from the age of 6 and going on to win local talent contests. Mike Connaris helped him compose his entry and is famed for writing Cyprus’ 2004 entry, ‘Stronger Every Minute’ (performed by Lisa Andreas). This song saw them achieve their best position (5th) for the third time – previously achieved in 1982 and 1997.
