Date set for French national selection
Frederik | On 12, Nov 2013
As reported earlier, French TV has decided to return to the format of a national final, letting the French people have a say in who they send to Copenhagen in 2014 to represent them.
French newspaper La Parisien now reveals that the selection will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2014.
At the end of this month, a listening committee will select the three songs that will be in the running for Eurovision 2014.
On January 26, the presentation of the songs for the first time will take place on the “Les Chansons D’Abord” TV-show, hosted by the French 2001 Eurovision representative, Natasha St-Pier.
After, the three songs will be recapped and broadcast daily on France 3 and france3.fr from January 26 until February 23. A panel of experts and the public will each have 50% of the total vote in deciding.
Eventually on March 2, the winner will be revealed during another broadcast of “Les Chansons D’Abord.” The winner will go on to represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
