Deen returns to Eurovision for Bosnia & Herzegovina!
Bosnia & Herzegovina is making a comeback in the Eurovision Song Contest next year, when the country returns after having been absent since 2013.
National broadcaster BHRT has chosen Deen for Stockholm, who will be joined by Dalal Midhat Talakić and Ana Rucner.
Repeated attempts at return
Bosnia & Herzegovina has attempted to return to the Eurovision Song Contest several times since their last appearance in 2012. The country filed preliminary applications in both 2014 and 2015, but due to financial issues, participation was not possible.
This year, the national broadcaster has secured funding through sponsors and is now ready to enter.
Fuad Backović, better known as Deen, represented Bosnia & Herzegovina in the first edition of the modern Eurovision Song Contest in 2004, with the song “In the Disco.” In a skimpy, pink top and acid wash jeans, he sang his way to two sets of 12 points in the semi-final from Norway and Denmark, and ended up in 12th place in the Grand Final.
Since his Eurovision appearance, Deen has had several hit singles in the Balkan countries.
Song revealed in February
On stage in Stockholm, Deen will perform alongside Dalal Midhat Talakić, a singer and R&B duo member, and Ana Rucner, a Croatian cellist.
Their song for Stockholm will be chosen by the broadcaster and revealed in February.
