Destiny Chukunyere will represent Malta at Junior Eurovision 2015!

This week, Malta’s artist selection for Junior Eurovision 2015 took place.

Destiny Chukunyere was selected as the winner and will represent Malta at Junior Eurovision in November!

 

20 competing acts

20 participants took part in the selection show, each singing a cover version of a well-known song. Destiny sang Aretha Franklin’s “Think” and was chosen as the winner by 75 percent jury vote and 25 percent televote.

 

A singer since age nine

Destiny has been singing since the age of nine. She participated in Festival Kanzutteneta Indipendenza 2014, where she placed third. She also competed at Asteriks Music Festival and SanRemo Junior in Italy, which she won. Destiny says that her musical influence is Beyoncé. She is the daughter of Nigerian footballer, Ndubisi Chukunyere.

 

Song to be revealed later

Detiny’s song for Junior Eurovision will be chosen at a later date. Malta was the winner of Junior Eurovision 2013 with Gaia Cauchi and her song “The Start”. Malta hosted Junior Eurovision 2014, in Marsa. Also last year, the country was represented by Frederica Falzon, who finished in 4th place with the song “Diamonds”.

 

Junior Eurovision 2015 will take place on November 21 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
