Douwe Bob for the Netherlands at Eurovision 2016 after all!
Where there is smoke there is fire!
After rumors were flying in the Netherlands about their future representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, and after the rumors were denied, Douwe Bob has now been confirmed as the first artist for Stockholm!
Confirmed despite denial
The confirmation comes after the Dutch Eurovision commentator stated that AVROTROS were not even dealing with Eurovision until 2016. But, the rumors were true and the broadcaster has come clean and confirmed Douwe Bob as their choice for Stockholm.
“As a songwriter I’ll now get the chance to have my music heard on the biggest stage in Europe, the Eurovision Song Contest. I’m going to Stockholm to win and I am very very happy that I’ll be able to do it my own way,” said Douwe Bob according to Eurovision.tv.
Douwe Bob is a 22 year-old singer-songwriter who saw success after winning “De beste singer-songwriter van Nederland.” His album “Pass It On” recently placed number one on the Dutch album charts, after having success with a collaborative single with Anouk.
The selection of Douwe Bob continues the recent trend of the Netherlands choosing popular artists to represent them in the Eurovision Song Contest, starting with Anouk in 2013, who brought the country into the Grand Final for the first time since 2004. The Common Linnets continued that success, placing second in Copenhagen. Unfortunately, Trijntje Oosterhuis did not qualify in Vienna.
The song for the Netherlands will not be presented until next year.
