DR wants another winner
Today, DR, the Danish national broadcaster and host broadcaster of Eurovision Song Contest 2014, expressed their high ambitions for its national selection early next year, when they announced the search for the lineup of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2014.
Alluding to 2011, the last time Denmark hosted the contest and came 2nd, Rasmus Ladefoged, Entertainment Editor of DR, told dr.dk/grandprix, “If we can just do it a little better next year, I’m happy.”
DR wants another international winner and they believe a modern, catchy pop song with a strong chorus is the way to go. “We want both the big hits and the songs that break with tradition and develop the contest,” Langefoged continued.
The first six compositions will be chosen from open competition, while the remaining songs will come from three to four songwriters invited by DR. While at least one of the creative partners of each song must have a strong connection to Denmark, the entries can be submitted in any language.
Eurovision Song Contest 2014 takes place on the 6th, 8th, and 10th of May, someplace in Denmark, as DR has yet to have selected the host city.
