EBU responds to Russian jury scandal

EBU responds to Russian jury scandal
Eric Nocito

After the massive breach of the Russian jury vote during the first semi-final, the EBU has released a statement with the details of its investigation.

Dissecting the statement, the only action that will take place in response to this scandal is that the juror who live-streamed the live broadcast from jury room, Anastasiya Stotskaya, has been suspended and her votes in the semi-final have become void.

Russian broadcaster, RTR, will have a chance to replace Stotskaya in time for the Grand Final on Saturday. All remaining affected jurors from the breach will remain and have their votes counted.

Prior to the live broadcast of the first semi-final, a TV-version of the Russian performance was leaked on Youtube, which is presumably giving an unfair advantage to Russia. Questions to EBU regarding this video went unanswered and the video was never taken down, giving advance viewing of the TV performance to worldwide viewers.
