For the 60th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, Spain will be represented by Edurne with the song “Amanecer.”
Recently Edurne was kind enough to take her time to share a little about herself and her Eurovision entry!
Hi Edurne, thank you for sitting down with us!
First off, have you previously expressed interest in entering Eurovision?
Yes, but I didn´t find any song that I liked to go to Eurovision.
How did it feel to be selected by TVE to represent Spain?
It´s amazing!! I´m so excited, I wanna give everything and make a great performance.
What three words would you use to describe your song “Amanecer?”
Magical, Sentimental and Pungent.
“Wow, with this song I’ll go to Eurovision”
How was “Amanecer” created and selected?
I’m working on my new album and at the same time I’m working on Eurovision. So when listening to songs for my album, I heard “Amanecer” and I fell in love!! My first thought was “Wow, with this song I’ll go to Eurovision” and I’m so lucky ´cause I am on it!!
Do you have an idea of how you want to stage the performance of your entry?
No, at the moment we`re working on it, but I would like something spectacular
This is the 60th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, are you a fan and if so, how long have you watched?
Yes I´m an absolutely fan!! I don´t remember the first time that I saw the festival, because I was so so young. It´s a pleasure to be in Eurovision in the 60th edition!!
What is your all-time favorite Eurovision entry? From Spain or maybe another country?
Wow, there are a lot, but from Spain, my favorite is Pastora Soler, and from the another country, I would choose “Euphoria,” by Loreen.
Have you ever visited Vienna, this year’s Eurovision host city?
No and I´m excited to go. I hope to have time to visit some special places there!!
“Every day they give me their love and support”
How has the Spanish public responded to you representing them in this year’s contest?
They responded so well, and every day they give me their love and support. It makes me want to work hard and happily!
Are you planning any promotion or touring before Eurovision?
I would like to,of course!! But at the moment we have to check the calendar.
What do you hope people will remember you for once Eurovision is over?
I hope they´ll remember a great song and a great performance!! I´m going to work a lot for that.
You have had a very successful music career to date. What is the most memorable moment you have had so far?
Clearly the most memorable moment is right now, being the Spanish representing for Eurovision. This is my best challenge.
Were you always encouraged by your friends and family to work in the music industry?
Yes, of course!! They always knew that my dream was to work in the music industry.
If you could pick anyone, who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Pink, i love her voice, her music, and her performances!!
“I listen to every kind of music”
What music, artists, bands do you listen to yourself? Any favorites?
I listen to every kind of music, from classical music to rock ones. I like pop rock, Pink, Beyonce, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5,…
What is a recent movie, play, or concert you experienced that you really liked?
I saw the musical “Priscilla” in Madrid. I really liked it!!
If you weren’t a professional singer, what do you think you would be working with?
I would be a veterinarian. i was studying it before making it to “Idol.”
How do you best like to spend your time when you aren’t busy working?
I like to be relaxing at home, or go to the cinema and watch a great movie with my big box of popcorn, or stay at home with some friends and play table games.
Besides music, what keeps you happy and motivated in life?
My family, I´m so family-oriented, but I travel a lot because of my work, so I try to spend a lot of time with them and it makes me so happy.
