Rules and dates of Eesti Laul 2016 revealed!

The Estonian national broadcaster ERR has released the rules and regulations for the national selection Eesti Laul 2016.

A total of three shows will take place to choose the next representative for Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.


Final on March 5

The song submission period has started already and will end by the deadline of November 2, 2015. Within the next month, a professional jury from national broadcaster ERR will select and announce the 20 competing acts on December 11.

Two semi-finals will take place on February 13 and February 20, while the final will air on March 5, 2016. Each semi-final will consist of 10 acts and just five lucky ones will make it to the Eesti Laul final, making a total of 10 participants.

For each show, there will be a 50%-50% voting deliberation between the jury and the public vote.

Estonia participated in Vienna, Austria for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song “Goodbye to Yesterday” performed by Elina Born & Stig Rästa. They managed to collect 106 points and placed  seventh in the final ranking.
