Esben Bjerre and Jacob Riising to host Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2015!
The Danish national selection for Eurovision returns to Aalborg on February 7, where 10 acts will compete to represent Denmark in Vienna.
It has been announced that the show will be hosted by two guys, Esben Bjerre and Jacob Riising!
Esben Bjerre is one half of the popular Danish radio duo “Monte Carlo,” consisting of Esben Bjerre and Peter Falktoft. Prior to the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, hosted in Copenhagen, there was a social media movement to get the duo to host the big show. While this did not end up being the case, they did get to be commentators for the youth-oriented DR3 TV-channel which aired the Grand Final simultaneously with DR1.
Jacob Riising has hosted the Danish Junior Melodi Grand Prix several times, but graduated to the adult version last year, when he presented the show with Louise Wolff. He now returns to host his second consecutive show.
The last and only time the show saw a male duo host was in 2006, when Adam Duvå Hall and Mads Vangsø presented live from the same arena as next year’s show, Gigantium.
This move is a part of the rebranding effort of the old, Danish format, which includes a new logo and slogan. Earlier, 687 songs were received in the public submission period and only six or seven of these will make it to the live show. Another three or four songs will be invited by DR as wildcards.
Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2015 airs live from the Gigantium Arena in Aalborg on Saturday, February 7, 2015.
