Eurovision 2014 dates change!

Eurovision 2014 dates change!
  • On July 8, 2013

The preliminary dates for Eurovision Song Contest 2014 have been changed and are now definitive. The contest is now set to take place in early May, on the 6th, 8th, and 10th. This is a week earlier than the dates that were first announced.

DR explains that the move secures the maximum flexibility for the cities bidding to host. Notably, the Boxen Arena in Herning is now available, compared to the old dates where an André Rieu concert conflicted with the schedule. “We have tried to find a date that suits the cities that currently compete for hosting and which also fit our European colleagues,” says Pernille Gaardbo, the 2014 executive producer appointed by DR.

The Norwegians are also happy, as the old date of the Grand Final would have been on the same day as their National Day, celebrating Norway, on the 17th of May.

3 cities are bidding to host the 2014 contest: Copenhagen, Herning and Horsens. A decision is expected sometime over the summer or early fall.
