  • Guy was born in Malaysia in 1981. At the age of seven, Guy and his family moved to Australia. As a child, Guy took violin lessons and also learned to play the guitar, piano and drums.

Guy’s first big break as a musician came in 2003 when he successfully auditioned for Australian Idol. During the show, Guy won the hearts of the Australian public and won first place in November 2003. As his prize, Guy signed a contract with BMG and recorded his first album in just six days, with three songs co-written by himself. The album achieved the number one spot in Australian sales.

Since Idol, Guy’s musical style has moved more into the R&B genre. He has recorded a hit song, “Battle Scars”, with American rapper, Lupe Fiasco. He has released eight top ten albums and has performed with artists such as Jordin Sparks and John Mayer.

Guy is one of the most successful artists in Australia. He has won many musical awards and featured as a judge on Australian X Factor between 2010 and 2012. Guy has had the honour of performing for both Pope Benedict XVI and Queen Elizabeth II.

  • On February 10, the announcement was made that the EBU had decided to offer Australia an invitation to take part in Eurovision 2015, in order to commemorate 60 years of Eurovision.

At a press conference at Sydney Opera House on March 5, SBS announced Guy Sebastian as their first ever Eurovision representative. His song “Tonight Again” was revealed on March 16.
