Born in 1980, Stig is an alternative singer-songwriter and guitarist. In 2002, he formed the band Slobodan River, which disbanded after four years together. Since 2006, he has played with the band Traffic and since 2010, with the band Outloudz.
Elina Born was born in 1994 in Lehtse, Estonia. In 2012, Elina competed in Estonian singing competition, Eesti Otsib Superstaari, where she finished in second place.Stig chose Elina to sing his song at Eesti Laul 2013 after discovering her singing videos on YouTube. After this unsuccessful attempt at representing Estonia at Eurovision 2013, Elina and Stig formed a duet in order to enter Eesti Laul 2015.
Elina previously competed in Eesti Laul 2013 with “Enough” which was co-written by Stig Rästa. She made it to the final and finished in 8th place.
In 2015, Elina & Stig decided to enter Eesti Laul once more, but this time, as a duet. Singing “Goodbye to Yesterday”, they made it to the final.There, they competed against nine other acts for the ticket to Vienna. Receiving the top marks from both the jury vote and the public vote, Elina and Stig made it to the Superfinal where, with 79% of the final public vote, they were declared the winners and Estonia’s representatives for Eurovision 2015.
