  • Ann Sophie was born in London in 1990. As a child, she and her family moved to Hamburg, Germany. Ann Sophie developed a passion for performing as a young girl. She studied ballet at the age of four and was inspired to perform by her Idols Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.

    In 2010, Ann Sophie moved to New York in order to attend the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. While studying here, Ann Sophie performed in various live clubs.

    Ann Sophie released her debut single, “Get Over Yourself” in 2012.

    She returned to Hamburg in 2013 and recorded her debut demo album. Today, Ann Sophie’s idol is Beyoncé.


  • In September 2014, NDR announced that they would continue their format, Unser Song Für Österreich, for 2015. In February, Ann Sophie was announced as one of the ten unknown acts that would compete in the Club Concert.

    The live Club Concert took place on February 19. Ann Sophie performed “Jump the Gun”. The German public voted Ann Sophie as the winner of the Club Concert with 24.1% of the votes and she was chosen as the wildcard act for the German final.

    On January 14, Germany’s national final took place. Ann Sophie and seven established German acts took to the stage to perform their first songs. Ann Sophie sang “Jump the Gun” in the first round and was one of the four acts chosen to advance to the second round. In the second round, Ann Sophie sang “Black Smoke” and was voted into the top two along with Andreas Kümmert and his song “Heart of Stone”. After another performance, Andreas was declared the winner with 78.7% of the votes. However, in a shock move, Andreas said he did not want to go to Eurovision, and relinquished his title to Ann Sophie. Ann Sophie was then given the chance to represent Germany in Vienna, which she quickly accepted.
