Aminata was born in Riga, Latvia in 1993. She has both African and Russian roots. She plays the flute and has always wanted to become a singer.
At age fifteen she took part in her first television show, Krodziņā pie Paula. Aminata has also taken part in Muzikālā banka, and, Koru kari 3, the Latvian version of Battle of the Choirs, where she was part of the choir, Golden.In 2014, she participated in the Latvian television show Jaunā talantu fabrika, which she went on to win.
Aminata’s debut album, Inner Voice, will be released in April 2015.
In 2014, Aminata attempted to represent Latvia when she competed in Latvian selection Dziesma 2014 with the song “I Can Breathe”. She qualified from the first semi-final and then placed fifth in the final.
In November, LTV announced that Latvia was changing their national to Supernova 2015. In January, Aminata was announced as one of twenty acts that would compete in Supernova 2015, with the song “Love Injected”.Aminata competed in Heat 2 of Supernova on February 8. She qualified for the semi final via the public vote. The semi final took place on February 14 and once again, Aminata was chosen by the public to compete in the final against three other acts.
On February 21, the final of Supernova took place. After each act performed, one round of public voting took place. Aminata won the show and was chosen as the Latvian representative for Eurovision 2015.
