Monika was born in Gargždai, Lithuania in 1992. Monika tried to represent Lithuania in Junior Eurovision when she competed in their national final in 2007. Since 2010, Monika has competed in Lithuania’s selection for Eurovision a total of six times. Before winning the selection this year, her best result was in 2012, when she finished in third place with the song “Happy”. As well as singing, Monika plays the piano.Singer and actor, Vaidas was born in Vilnius, Lithuania in 1987. Vaidas started his singing career on a cruise ship. He became known in Lithuania when he finished in third place of Lithuanian show, Dangus. In 2006, Vaidas released his debut album, What Do You Like?. The album was very popular in Lithuania. Vaidas has since released a second album, and is currently working on his third.
Monika competed in Lithuania’s selection for Junior Eurovision in 2007 and, since 2010, she has competed in Lithuania’s selection for Eurovision. Vaidas competed in Lithuania’s selection show in 2014, where he finished in third place.
In late 2014, Monika and Vaidas applied separately to compete in Eurovizijos 2015. Both Monika and Vaidas made it through Eurovizijos’ first two shows, singing cover versions of hit songs. For the following four shows, Monika, Vaidas and the other competing artists performed the potential Eurovision entries. In show six, Monika and Vaidas performed “This Time” as a duet for the first time.On February 14, “This Time” was selected as the song that would represent Lithuania in Vienna. The Lithuanian final took place on February 21. Monika and Vaidas competed against one other artist in the final, Mia. After a public vote, Monika and Vaidas were selected to sing “This Time” for Lithuania at Eurovision 2015.
