  • Monika was born in Poland in 1980. She first came to prominence in 2000 when she was chosen to be the new vocalist for Polish rock-pop group, Varius Manx. She released her first album with the band, Eta, in 2001. Monika released another three albums with the band.

    In 2006, Monika and other members of Varius Manx were involved in a car accident in Milicz, Poland. Monika was left paralysed from the waist down and she is now wheelchair-bound.

    Monika left Varius Manx 2010. In the same year, she performed for the first time since her accident, on Polish morning show, Dzień Dobry TVN. Monika acted as a coach on the Polish version of Battle of the Choirs in 2012. She released her debut solo album, Ocalona, in June 2012.

    Monika received The Golden Cross of Merit award in 2013 from Polish president, Bronislaw Komorowski, for artistic activities and charity efforts for the promotion of sports for people with disabilities.


  • In February, Polish broadcaster, TVP announced that they had opted to choose their entry for Eurovision 2015 internally. On March 9, on a special program dedicated to Eurovision, it was revealed that TVP had chosen Monika and the song “In The Name of Love” to represent Poland in Vienna.
