Edurne was born in Madrid in 1985. As a child she began attending auditions. She landed minor roles in Spanish television series and, at age nine, became a member of children’s music group, Trastos.
In 2005, Edurne took part in Operación Triunfo, where she finished in sixth place. In 2006 Edurne released her self-titled debut album which gained her three successful singles, two of which made the Top 20 of the Spanish charts. The following year, Edurne released her second album, Ilusión, which gained her another Top 20 hit on the Spanish Charts.
From 2009 to 2013, Edurne appeared as Sandy in the musical, Grease. To coincide with this, Edurne recorded Spanish versions of the songs, “You’re the One That I Want” and “Hopelessly Devoted to You”, both of which were included on her third album, Première. Two more successful albums followed this and Edurne gained another two hits in the songs “Painkiller” and “Pretty Boy”.
Edurne is a familiar face on Spanish television having appeared on shows like Tu Cara Me Suena, Todo va bien and the Spanish version of Strictly Come Dancing.
At a press conference on January 14, TVE revealed that they had internally selected Edurne to be their representative at Eurovision 2015. Later, the writers of the song were revealed as Tony Sánchez-Ohlsson, Peter Boström and Thomas G:son, and the song title was revealed as “Amanecer”.“Amanecer” made its debut on March 1, when it was released on TVE’s official website.
