Eurovision veteran, Ronnie Carroll of the United Kingdom, dies aged 80

Ronnie Carroll, who represented the United Kingdom twice in the Eurovision Song Contest, died Monday, April 13, following a short illness. He was 80 years old.
The singer, who was born in Belfast in 1934, represented the United Kingdom in 1962 and 1963 with the entries “Ring-A-Ding Girl” and “Say Wonderful Things” respectively. He came in fourth place with each song.
Mr. Carroll was also due to stand as an independent candidate in the upcoming general election in the UK for the Hampstead and Kilburn constituency under the banner ‘The Eurovisionary Carroll.’
