Eurovision winner Loreen returns to Melodifestivalen this Saturday!
While the second chance show, the last show before the final, is usually the least-watched of the Melodifestivalen shows, this Saturday’s edition can’t be missed.
For the interval act, the 2012 Eurovision winner Loreen is set to perform a surprise act!
The Swedish public first heard of Loreen, then Lorén, in 2004 on the talent show Idol, but it wasn’t until her 2011 Melodifestivalen appearance she made a big impact on the Swedish music scene. Loreen’s “My Heart Is Refusing Me” did not make it to the final, but later became a big summer hit in Sweden. Her return the following year with “Euphoria” not only secured her the Melodifestivalen victory, but also the Eurovision trophy.
Loreen’s debut album was released in 2012 and she is now just about ready to debut her second album and comeback, “Paperlights.” On the album she has worked with names such as Kiesza, and Euphoria creators Thomas G:son and Peter Boström. Tomorrow, March 5th, marks the debut of the first single “Paper Light (Higher)” of the new album.
This Saturday, Loreen will perform as the interval act for the second chance show of Melodifestivalen 2015. About her appearance, Loreen told svt.se: “It’s something you won’t expect me to do. Fun, with a political angle.”
The new single “Paper Light (Higher)” will be released in the Nordic countries on March 5, while the worldwide release is on March 9. Loreen will also perform at the upcoming Eurovision anniversary show in London.
