France opts for a national final

France opts for a national final
Eric Nocito

After much speculation, France’s national broadcaster, France TV, has decided to select their entry for Eurovision 2014 through a national final.

The last time that France chose their Eurovision entry through a national final was in 2007 with the group Les Fatals Picards. Since then, the entries have been chosen through internal selection.

Interested composers and lyricists should send a recorded demo of their song to: eurovision.delegation@francetv.fr .  The deadline for submissions has been set for Novemeber 24. All songs must be in the French language.

On Novemeber 24, a group of music professionals will choose three songs out of all entries.

Also, France 3 and France Bleu will offer one spot to a lucky television viewer.  In order to be chosen, the applicants must answer three Eurovision questions. After, the winner will be chosen by a random draw of the correctly answered questionaires

Later, the three songs will be introduced on Natasha St. Pier’s show, “Les chansons d’abord” France 3.  After the three performances, the public will vote and choose the winner.

The winner will go on to represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
