Guy Sebastian will represent Australia in Eurovision 2015!
After a lot of anticipation, the first competing representative for Australia has been revealed to be Guy Sebastian!
SBS Australia held a press conference moments ago at the Sydney Opera House, where 33 year-old Guy Sebastian got to answer questions.
Guy Sebastian was originally born in Malaysia and competed in and won Australian Idol in 2003. His musical genres cover a range from pop to R&B and soul. He is married and has two sons.
SBS got help from several record companies, which pitched ideas for songs and artists to send to Vienna, ultimately choosing Guy Sebastian.
The song will come from Guy Sebastian’s newest album, to meet the requirement of not having been released before September 2014. At the press conference, he stated that he wants the song to be something “epic” to showcase his voice. He explained that he loves how Eurovision can be very open and without boundries, using Conchita Wurst as an example.
Guy Sebastian is also looking forward to the huge setup that Eurovision is, wanting to use big screens and effects for his performance. About neighborvoting, Guy Sebastian stated that in the end it’s about the performance. If your performance is amazing or “rubbish,” it doesn’t matter where you’re from. He is not too concerned about what the final result will be. SBS will broadcast all shows live, enabling the Australians to vote.
Australia will compete in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015.
