Heads of Delegations meeting in Copenhagen, with 2015 dates
With the deadline for song submissions today, March 17, the heads of delegations of all 37 participating countries of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 met at the Crown Plaza Copenhagen Towers in host city Copenhagen.
The meeting is a milestone in the planning towards May 2014.
DR presents the plans
DR, the national broadcaster of Denmark and 2014 host broadcaster, presented the plans for the events, locations, stage, shows, and the like to the representatives.
This is also the delegations’ chance to submit wishes for their competing entries, such as camera direction, props, etc, sorting out the many details involved with the large production.
Preliminary dates set
The preliminary dates for next year’s edition of the contest were also revealed to be May 12, 14, and 16.
They may of course change, as was the case with this year’s contest, which moved a week back, to allow for all Danish cities to bid and to accommodate the national day in Norway.
Basim performs 23rd in the Grand Final
As host country, the Danish position in the running order of the Grand Final was drawn as the only country, as the rest will be decided by DR to maximize the quality of the show, as SVT did last year in Malmö.
The draw, consisting of numbered balloons, placed the Danish representative Basim and his “Cliche Love Song” in the favorable 23rd position. The is the same position for Denmark as the last time the country hosted the contest, in 2001, when Rollo & King performed 23rd in the final and came in second place.
And the EuroClub staff at VEGA suggest, through song, that the delegations book their artists to perform there (click to watch video):
The delegations then visited the EuroClub at VEGA.
