Horsens to host Danish national final on February 13, 2016

With a week left of the song submission period for the Danish national selection Melodi Grand Prix 2016, the Danish national broadcaster DR has announced a city and a date for next year’s show.

The next Danish representative for the Eurovision Song Contest will be found in Horsens on February 13.

Cutfather to help

After failing to reach the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time since 2007, DR has brought music producer and former X Factor judge Cutfather on board to lead the selection of songs that will compete to represent Denmark in Stockholm next year.

Cutfather has had several international pop hits and is sure to bring a modern pop sound to the show.

Fourth time for Horsens

The 2016 edition of Melodi Grand Prix will mark the fourth time that Horsens gets to host the show, following 2005, 2007, and 2008. The venue will once again be Forum Horsens, with an audience capacity of about 3.500 – 4000.

“It is super awesome that we are returning to Horsens, because I can feel the big enthusiasm and desire that the city has, and their ability to use the many values within music to create a strong cultural life. It is very important to us that the citizens of Horsens show their excitement and want to play along with us and all of Denmark,” said the head of entertainment at DR, Jan Lagermand Lundme. “We were here in 2008 last and they really managed to create a great Grand Prix party then. I am confident they will do that again”

The song submission period for Melodi Grand Prix 2015 ends September 7.
