Hosts of Norwegian MGP 2015 revealed!
The national Norwegian broadcaster, NRK, today revealed the hosts of Melodi Grand Prix (MGP) 2015, the Norwegian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.
They are Silya Nymoen and Kåre Magnus Bergh!
Silya was a contestant in MGP in 2012, with the song “Euphoria,” where she also wrote a song for another contestant, but did not qualify for the national final. The Norwegians first got to know Silya when she was the vocalist in Multicyde, with the hit “Not for the Dough”. Nowadays she is making her own material, and have written tracks for Vanessa Hudgens. In 2013, she won a TV-sent contest called Stjernekamp, where several artist competed in various genres, and the audience voted for the contestants they liked the most.
Kåre is a popular and well known TV-presenter in Norway. He has hosted Idol, the mentioned Stjernekamp, MGP Jr, and other TV-shows for children. Among other things, he is also a painter and used to play in several bands.
The Norwegian selection has been cut down to a single, one-night final with 10 songs, after having had semi-finals for the past several years.
The show marks a series of anniversaries, as it will be 20 and 30 years since the first two Norwegian Eurovision victories, while also being the 60th year of Eurovision. This is celebrated by having the state TV-orchestra brought back for the show to perform with the artists.
This is the first time Silya and Kåre host MGP, and we wish them the best of luck! The MGP final will air live from Oslo Spektrum on March 14.
