Interview with Miyatta: 2015 Macedonian hopeful
Miyatta, a participant of Macedonian national final “Skopje Fest 2014″ with the song “Zaljuben,” answered our questions about Skopje Fest and herself.
Hi Miyatta! Thank you for speaking with us!
Could you please tell us a little about yourself and how you got started in music?
I started my music career as an Idol show competitor in 2004. I made to the top 10 final and it opened the door to my further musical development. My music is mostly pop rock genre and mainly I participate in the creative team of my songs either as a lyric or music writer.
How do you feel about being part of Skopje Fest?
Excitement first of all. I have never been a part of a festival where the music is played by such a big orchestra. It will be glamorous. I can feel it.
How did you decide to submit a song for Skopje Fest?
The song that I submitted didn’t qualify. The jury asked me later on to perform this song written by Tanja Tzar, which I gladly accepted.
How was the song created?
This song named “Zaljuben” portrays a different me. This part of me as a performer my audience is yet to see. The song underwent translation into Macedonian because originally Tanja wrote it in English. I will be enjoying this song on stage since it was written by a woman for a woman.
Could you tell us a little secret about the song?
Hmmmm. Let’s say it will be “Miyatta going Moulin Rouge.”
What are your plans for the performance in Skopje Fest?
I have to leave something for the viewers to be surprised.
What do you think of the other participants at Skopje Fest?
We started rehearsing with the orchestra and I heard the majority of the songs. I can tell you it will be magnificent festival.
What are your future plans if you get to represent Macedonia?
My plan is to give my best to represent my people which are one very musical nation. The pressure is always big whoever the representative is. But I believe I am apt to that mission. Otherwise I would’t agree to take part of the festival in the first place.
Are you a Eurovision fan yourself?
Big time Eurovision fan. Every year it is a special happening for my music buds.
Which Eurovision songs from Macedonia are your favorites?
“Ninanajna” from Elena Risteska.
What did you think of Conchita Wurst, the 2014 winner?
I didn’t understand the beard styling but I truly enjoyed her performance and song. Apparently the whole package worked since her victory was so strong.
Do you have a special message for our readers?
Just continue your enthusiasm and Eurovision fever. Each year is a true enjoyment for all of us Eurovision fans.
Thanks again for your time, Miyatta!
Miyatta will participate this week in Skopje Fest 2014.
