JESC stars Michele and Anita to represent San Marino at Eurovision!
With their fifth attempt, and Valentina Monetta’s third, San Marino finally qualified for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest last year.
Now, the tiny country has decided to send two familiar faces to the big event in Vienna next year.
San Marino will be represented by the two Junior Eurovision stars Michele Perniola and Anita Simoncini!
The Italian Michele Perniola represented San Marino at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Kiev, where he sang the song “O-o-O Sole intorno a me,” ending up 10th out of 12 competing songs. Michele turned 16 in September, making him eligible for the adult Eurovision.
Anita Simoncini particiated in the just finished Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 that aired from Malta, where she represented San Marino as a part of the group The Peppermints. Rafaella Perniola, Michele’s little sister, is also a member of this group. They placed 15th out of 16. Anita is currently the only actual native Sammarinese artist to have represented the country at Junior Eurovision, as everybody else have been Italian. She turns 16 in April 2015, just in time to be eligible for Eurovision.
