Mägo de Oz wants to represent Spain at Eurovision 2016

Mägo de Oz wants to represent Spain at Eurovision 2016
Alvaro Sanabria

The Celtic metal band from Madrid, Mägo de Oz, has recently revealed that they want to be the Spain representative in Stockholm for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

The band is very popular in Spain and Latin America for their music style mixing Celtic instruments with folk and metal sounds.

According to Txus di Fellation, founder of Mägo de Oz, the band has asked to their record label (Warner Music) to let them represent Spain for the past 4 years.

It would be a pleasure for us [to represent Spain].  Actually we have asked our record label during the last 4 years to make everything possible to bring us to Eurovision because we think that Spain needs something new and fresh to show in the festival.  Our last results have not been good and our country has forgotten to have fun with their representative.

Txus di Fellation considers that Eurovision is about “making good songs” such as the band’s singles “Fiesta pagana” or “La costa del silencio.”  He agrees that they would probably not have a good result in the finals but their goal, would be to show other music proposals from Spain.  Di Fellation also compared their potential participation with Lordi’s victory in 2006.

Will Mägo de Oz represent Spain in Eurovision?
