At around 11:00 this morning, SVT, Sweden’s national broadcaster, held a special press conference announcing the hosts of Melodifestivalen 2014:  Nour El-Refai and Anders Jansson.

Nour El-Refai was born in Lebanon in 1987.  She is of Syrian-Lebanese descent and raised in Lund, not far from Malmö. El-Refai had her breakthrough on the comedy tv-show “Raj Raj.” She also served as a SVT reporter for Melodifestivalen 2008 and starred in SVT’s “Morgonsoffan.”

El-Refai has gone on to appear in several films over the years. When asked what kind of hostess she will be, Nour El-Refair replied, “I will be a mixture of Darth Vader in Star Wars and Stewie in Family Guy.”

Anders Jansson, 46, is a well-known Swedish comedian born in the Skåne region.  He appeared on the comedy tv-program “Hipp Hipp!,” where he played many different characters, most notably journalist Morgan Pålsson, who covered Melodifestivalen 2008. Jansson has gone on to appear in numerous tv shows in Sweden, most recently, “Halvvägs till himlen.”

Also, when asked about what kind of host he will be, Anders Jansson said, “I will be a mixture of Kristian Luuk and Dolph Lundgren.”

Melodifestivalen 2014 will kick off on February 1, with the first semi-final in Malmö.
