While we await the preparations of Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv, the Swedish national selection, Melodifestivalen, announced on their webpage the dates and cities for next year’s contest and tour.

Full list for Melodifestivalen 2017

  • Semifinal 1: February 4, Göteborg, Scandinavium

  • Semifinal 2: February 11, Malmö, Malmö Arena
  • Semifinal 3: February 18, Växjö, Vida Arena
  • Semifinal 4: February 25, Skellefteå, Skellefteå Kraft Arena
  • Second chance: March 4, Linköping, SAAB Arena
  • Final: March 11, Stockholm, Friends Arena

The six cities have all previous experience in hosting Melodifestivalen. The cities with the least experience is Växjö and Skellefteå with three times hosting each. Stockholm is the only city which has been a part of the tour every year since it started back in 2002. Göteborg has been hosting every year since 2003.

The most northern city in the tour, Skellefteå, is located 1 379 km from the most southern city of Malmö. The tour will travel a total of 2 800 km across the country of Sweden going from city to city.

Looking on some statistics, we will see that all of the semi-final cities have produced winning acts for Melodifestivalen since the tour format was introduced in 2002. On top of the list we find Malmö with four winning acts followed by Göteborg with three and then there’s a split position between Växjö and Skellefteå who each have produced one winning act each.
