Nora Brockstedt passes away at 92
Nora Brockstedt, 92, died on the 5th of November, 2015. Brockstedt is well-known in Norway for being the first representative of the Nordic country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1960.
Brockstedt represented Norway again in 1961.
Born in Oslo, Brockstedt won Melodi Grand Prix two times and represented Norway with the songs Voi Voi (4th place) and Sommer i Palma (7th place). After representing Norway in Eurovision, Brockstedt continued her music career for seven decades as a jazz singer.
In 1996, she was awarded with the King’s Medal of Merit for her contributions to the music industry in Norway. She has been credited among others by Eurovision winner Hanne Krogh (Bobbysocks!) as one of her main influences. She released her last album in 2008, at age 85.
