Poll #4: What is your favorite Czech Eurovision entry?
After being absent since their last appearance in 2009, the Czech Republic will return to the Eurovision Song Contest!
While we wait for their entry to be revealed through internal selection, we decided to find out which of the three Czech entries you enjoyed the most.
Check out the entries below and cast your vote!
2007: Kabát – Malá Dáma
The Czech Republic made their first appearance at Eurovision in 2007. Unfortunately, their efforts only earned them a single point in the semi-final, from Estonia, placing them at the very bottom.
2008: Tereza Kerndlová – Have Some Fun
The rough start did not defeat the country, and 2008 saw the Czech Republic return with a very different song, “Have Some Fun” by Tereza Kerndlová. She improved the Czech record, marginally, receiving nine points in the second semi-final, placing second last in front of Hungary.
2009: Gipsy.cz – Aven Romale
The Czech Republic gave Eurovision a final chance in 2009, entering with the goofy Gipsy.cz and the Super Gypsy character. This ended up being the Czech death blow, as the song “Aven Romale” received the dreaded nul points, placing the country at the very bottom again.
They are currently the most recent country to have failed to receive any points at all. Since the introduction of the semi-finals, Switzerland is the only other country to have failed to receive points. This was in 2004, when Piero & The MusicStars sang “Celebrate.”
The poor results and low interest in Eurovision in the Czech public made the country withdraw the following year.
It has been a rough ride, so pick your favorite and give them a second chance! Hopefully, 2015 will be the year that turns things around for the Czech Republic. Good luck! ☺
The results of the poll will be online soon.
