Having selected their Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 entrant internally, Russian broadcaster RTR has confirmed that the Russian entrant for this year in Sofia will be selected by way of a televised national final.
RTR is expected to reveal further details next month regarding the submission process and the format of the national final.
Russia recorded a brilliant fifth place finish at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Malta, with Alisa Kozhikina and her beautiful ballad “Dreamer” scoring an impressive 96 points.
This, though, was the latest in a string of impressive results for Russia in Junior Eurovision. The country scored its first (and, to date, only) victory in 2006 when the Tolmachevy Sisters won with the song “Vasseniy jazz.” Anastasiya and Maria then represented Russia in Eurovision 2014 in Copenhagen with the song “Shine.” Among Russia’s other strong finishes on the Junior Eurovision stage are consecutive second place efforts by Ekaterina Ryabova (2009) and Sacha & Lisa (2010).
Here is a flashback to Alisa Kozhikina’s magical performance on a beautiful Saturday night in Malta in November 2014!
