Rūta takes the lead from Donny Montell in Week 6 of Eurovizijos

Another Saturday brought us another episode of “Eurovizijos” aired on LRT. This time it was show six of the eight episodic marathon that is the Lithuanian selection.

In a return to the artists who had entered with their own songs, the contestants performed to once again stay in the contest.

Three Are Eliminated

After the results were revealed, three of the lowest scoring acts would be eliminated. They were, Ištvan Kvik & Ellada, Eglė Jakštytė, and Petunija.


Donny Montell Comes in Third

The surprise came when it was also revealed that the favourite in the category Donny Montell had placed third overall. For weeks Donny has been slightly edging Rūta Ščiogolevaitė, but thanks to the public votes Rūta took the lead.


Erica Jennings Comes in Second

In another surprise result, Erica Jennings, who represented the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 came in second, with her song “Leading Me Home.


The Juries Loves Donny, but the Public Loves Rūta

Donny scored top points with his song “I’ve Been Waiting For This Night” from the jury but fourth overall from the public votes, while Rūta scored well with the national jury and public votes with her song “United.

As we near the end of the marathon contest, things could get interesting in the next couple of weeks as the early favourite Donny loses his grip on the top spot.
