Finland calls their national selection “UMK (Uuden Musiikin Kilpailun)” or “The Competition for New Music).”

UMK is planned to have a final to take place in March 2015. The winner will, off course, represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria.

Entries are to be sent in this week, with a deadline of September 8.

In previous years, the preselection was prerecorded, but this year the shows will be live for the first time in history. We are really looking forward to that!

Finland has, in the last couple of years, shown Europe they are most capable of making great music. Their 2014 participant, Softengine, finished at 11th place with their song “Something Better.”

The full list of rules for entry can be found on the YLE website.
