Eurovision stars at MAD Video Music Awards 2016!

The Russian representative at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, Sergey Lazarev, has travelled to Athens, Greece this week in order to perform with Helena Paparizou at the MAD Video Music Awards. 

Also performing at the awards was Poli Genova, Bulgaria’s representative at Eurovision 2016.

 

MAD Video Music Awards

A huge event in Greece, the MAD Video Music Awards is similar to the MTV awards. Greece’s 2005 Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou is no stranger to the awards as she holds the record for most awards at 24, and the most nominations at 53. Other artist’s famous for receiving MAD Music awards include Despina Vandi and Sakis Rouvas.

 

Performances 

Sergey Lazarev sang an incredible duet of “You Are The Only One” with Helena Paparizou, winner of Eurovision 2005.

 

 

2016 Bulgarian representative, Poli Genova, performed together with Greek singer Demy, rumored to be next year’s Greek representative, who sang her part of “If Love Was A Crime” in Greek.

 

 

Sakis Rouvas, Greek participant at Eurovision 2004 and 2009, also performed.

 

 

Winners 

Mad Music favourite, Helena Paparizou, was given the award for Best Modern Female. Sakis Rouvas was the winner of Best Modern Male and Best Pop Video for “Fila Me.” Anna Vissi, who represented Greece at Eurovision 1980 and 2006 and Cyprus in 1982, was given the Honourary Award.

 

Later on Facebook, the stars took to social media. Sergey thanked Helena Paparizou for the “unforgettable performance” and Greek TV for inviting him to the event. Helena posted several pictures on Instagram and Facebook. She also thanked Sergey for the duet and the public for her award. Sakis posted a video of himself celebrating his awards to Facebook.
