Sergey Lazarev believes he is the true winner of Eurovision 2016

After achieving a respectable third place finish at Eurovision 2016, EBU released a statement stating how Sergey Lazarev was “taking his loss as a true professional.

Now, it seems, Sergey is singing a different tune. While speaking to the media, Lazarev stated that some members of the jury were motivated by politics. RIA “Novosti” stated that he was surprised with the jury, because he performed “at full limits of his power and abilities.”

“I am a very self-critical person and first you blame yourself if something is wrong. I always do the maximum. As for the jury, it is not so much a vote against me or the song as policy,” Lazarev stated.

“We won. Everyone saw it.” Lazarev added that the Eurovision rules should be changed. However, he does not see any reason to return to Eurovision, but did not deny the possibility in the future.
