Slovena wins first ever Eurovision Choir of the Year contest!

 Today the first ever Eurovision Choir of the Year contest was held in Riga, Latvia. Nine countries from around Europe took part in the inaugural contest each sending their best choirs to try and take home the victory.

Each country performed a six minute set that reflected each of their cultures and national characteristics.

The Running Order

  1. Estonia - Estonian Tv Girl's Choir
  2. Denmark - Academic Choir of Aarhus
  3. Belgium - Les Pastoureaux
  4. Germany - Jazzchor Freiburg
  5. Slovenia - Carmen Manet
  6. Hungary - Bela Bartok Male Choir
  7. Wales - Côr Merched Sir Gâr
  8. Austria - Hardchor Linz
  9. Latvia - Spīgo

The Winner

The winner of the contest was decided by an expert jury which was made up of Elīna Garanča (Latvia), John Rutter (United Kingdom) and Nicolas Fink (Switzerland).

After their deliberation, Carmen Manet from Slovenia were crowned the winners of Eurovision Choir of the Year 2017 for their performance of "Ta na Solbici","Adrca" and "Aj, zelena je vsa gora". Carmen Manet are an all female choir, founded in 2011 and conducted by Primož Kerštanj.

Wales came in second place while home team Latvia finished in third place.
