Slovenia: Mini EMA to select Junior Eurovision 2015 representative
Last week, Slovenian broadcaster RTVSlo announced plans to hold a national final called Mini EMA, in order to select Slovenia’s representative for Junior Eurovision 2015!
The country debuted at Junior Eurovision last year, using internal selection.
Deadline August 31
Songs must be submitted to RTVSlo by midnight on August 31. An expert jury will narrow the selection down to a final of six songs to go forward to two semi-finals.
Three songs will compete in each semi-final, with the two semi-final winners going forward to the final – with the grand prize being to represent Slovenia at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Sofia, Bulgaria on November 21st.
A well-known format
EMA (Evrovizijska Moledija) is a very well-known show in Slovenia, having been used to select Slovenia’s representative in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1996, during which time the likes of Tanja Ribic, Darja Svajger and Rebeka Dremelj have all won the right to represent Slovenia in Eurovision. The past four winners of EMA (Maja Keuc, Eva Boto, Tinkara Kovac and Maraaya) serve as a reminder, though, of Slovenia’s unlimited potential on the Eurovision stage.
Slovenia’s pedigree on the Junior Eurovision stage is, however, a little less unknown. Slovenia only made their JESC debut in Malta in 2014, with Ula Lozar finishing 12th out of the 16 countries that competed, with her lovely song, ‘Nisi sam’ (‘Your light’).
Good luck Slovenia. Whoever wins your Junior Eurovision ticket to Bulgaria will no doubt do your country proud in the same way that Ula did in Malta last year.
