Supernova 2016 to select Latvian representative for Eurovision 2016!

Supernova 2016 to select Latvian representative for Eurovision 2016!
Alvaro Sanabria

Following a reboot of the national selection format in Latvia last year, into what was called Supernova, Latvia finally reached the Grand Final for the first time since 2008. Not only that, Aminata and her impressive voice also secured the Baltic country a sixth place finish.

It is thus no surprise that LTV has chosen to bring the format back for 2016!

Supernova all through February

Supernova 2016 will attempt to repeat Aminata’s success in Vienna, and will air live on Sundays in February. The show format will be the same for this new season of Supernova: the performers and their songs will be judged by both international and LTV jurors during the selection process.

Deadline November 1, final February 28

LTV has invited Latvian singers and songwriters to submit their songs before November 1st. A professional jury will choose the 20 best acts which will participate in Supernova 2016. However, the names of the contestants won’t be disclosed until the end of January, through the release of two documentaries about the preparations for the contest.

The Latvian representative for Stockholm will be decided by jury and televote on February 28.

Aminata won the first Supernova last year, with the song “Love Injected.”
