The 15 Norwegian songs released
After the participants of this year’s Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix were revealed back in January, you can now listen to the 15 songs that will compete to represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014.
The artists’ profile pages were updated with Spotify and WiMP links today.
According to the head of MGP, Vivi Stenberg, the early release of the songs is deliberate. “To make MGP relevant, the songs we are presenting must also have a chance to do well on streaming media, charts, and the radio,” she says to nrk.no. Last year, the songs were released just three days before the first semi-final. This year, the viewers are given a chance to get familiar with the songs prior to the shows.
2014 will be the first edition of the new and revamped concept of MGP, reducing the show to a festival in Oslo instead of a traveling show.
The three semi-finals will air on three consecutive nights on March 7, 8, and 9, with the final airing a week later, on March 15.
Norway will take part in the second semi-final, determined by a secret draw to secure that Norway and Sweden perform in separate shows, and will perform in the first half as drawn at the allocation draw in Copenhagen last month.
